Ready for Halloween

October 12th, 2007 · 2 Comments · Family, Medical School, Saba

Our Halloween costumes got here this afternoon and they’re more or less what we expected. I was afraid we didn’t order them early enough but they arrived here on the island with plenty of time to spare. At first I thought we weren’t going to bother to dress up as anything this year, but then we figured that there’s so little to do here that we should at least have a fun Halloween. We didn’t go overboard with the costumes, although for a moment I was awfully tempted to cosplay as Morrigan Aensland. Maybe next time. For now, my costume is somewhat reminiscent of hers. Barely.

In other news, I’m working with the SOS, aka “wives’ club”, on organizing a little Trunk or Treat event for the island kids. That’s proving to be a little more challenging than anticipated but we’ll get it all sorted out in no time. The main issue is that everyone who was here last year is temporarily unavailable so I’m a little bit in the dark for the moment.

My grandma’s 90th birthday is coming up and I wish we could’ve been there for this occasion. We sent her a nice floral arrangement but it’s just not the same as being there to celebrate with her. It feels like life’s moving on without us and we’re missing so much of what’s happening back home.

Oh well, we knew what we were getting into when we came here so we can’t complain. Besides, a little over five months have passed already and we’ll be out of here in no time. The second semester students are having their block 2 exams this Monday so I should probably focus on that instead.

Glad to see you are writing again! I looked at your photos of the trails, was it Mary’s point worth the hike? I heard it is cool.

I didn’t actually go on that hike, but Andrew says it’s very pretty. The trail is not very well marked and he got lost twice so you should probably go with someone who’s been there before. It took him 6 hours total including the walk from and back to St. John’s. He’s crazy like that.
