Short notice trip to Romania

March 1st, 2007 · No Comments · Family, Medical School

This past Tuesday I went to the Romanian consulate, hoping to get a power of attorney for our family friend to get me a new passport. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), it appears that expired passports cannot be renewed through power of attorney anymore and I decided to fly back to Romania with a travel document and to get this taken care of.

I’m flying on Saturday evening. How’s that for short notice? My head is spinning and I think I may have caught a cold. The timing couldn’t be more perfect than this. I’m certainly looking forward to the new TSA 3-1-1 rule. That should be tons and tons of fun. To top everything off, I’ll be taking the overnight train from Bucharest to Bistrita on the very day I land in Bucharest. Oh, joy!

In all seriousness, I’m not complaining. I’m actually looking forward to seeing my grandparents and my friends before we move to the Caribbean. It’s just that I’m a little under the weather and I imagine travelling with a cold is not the least bit comfortable. I hope the meds work their magic before I take off.
